JERUSALEM (JTA) — The International Criminal Court’s chief prosecutor warned Israel that the planned demolition of a Bedouin village in the West Bank may constitute a war crime.

In a statement issued hours after a rocket fired from the Gaza Strip destroyed a home in Beersheba, Fatou Bensouda also warned that she is “similarly alarmed by the continued violence, perpetrated by actors on both sides, at the Gaza border with Israel.” Israel retaliated for the bombing by striking 20 Hamas targets in the coastal strip.

Israeli Army Destroys Mile-long Hamas Tunnel Used to Target Southern Israel

JERUSALEM (JTA) — The Israeli army destroyed a tunnel built by the terrorist group Hamas that crossed from Gaza into Israel.

The tunnel, nearly a mile long, originated in the Khan Younis area of the central Gaza Strip and stretched more than 200 yards into Israeli territory. It branched off in several places to connect to the network of Hamas tunnels under Gaza, the Israel Defense Forces said, and was equipped with power and telephone lines.

US Cuts $10 Million for Israeli-Palestinian Coexistence Programs

(JTA) — The United States has cut $10 million of foreign aid money that was supporting coexistence programs between Israelis and Palestinians.

It is believed to have been the last remaining U.S. aid for Palestinian civilians.

The cuts were first reported Friday in The New York Times.

In recent weeks, the Trump administration has frozen $25 million in funding to Palestinian hospitals in eastern Jerusalem, halted all funding to the UNRWA, United Nations refugee agency that aids Palestinians, and cut more than $200 million for humanitarian and development aid in the West Bank and Gaza.

Israel Closes Gaza Crossing After Rioting Palestinians Damage Infrastructure

JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israel closed the only pedestrian crossing with Gaza after rioting Palestinians damaged infrastructure.

The Israeli military announced its closure of the Erez crossing on Wednesday morning following clashes the previous day between hundreds of Palestinians and Israeli soldiers left several Palestinians injured. Israeli troops responded to the violence, including rock throwing and vandalizing infrastructure.

About 1,000 Gazan Palestinians enter Israel each day through the Erez crossing, including students, businesspeople and those seeking medical care, according to the Israel Defense Forces.

Israel Commits to Gaza Reconstruction in Hamas Cease-fire Deal

JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israel has committed to the reconstruction of Gaza and discussing the possibility of airports and seaports in the Hamas-controlled coastal territory.

Details have begun to emerge regarding these and other terms of the Egyptian-brokered cease-fire deal between Israel and Hamas, Haaretz reported  Thursday. Its implementation began Wednesday following months of escalating tensions between the two sides.
